ALS Classical Guitar Rosette - Hauser Style #15 - Timber Mosaic - By Australian Luthier Supplies
These rosettes add a beautiful embellishment to the soundhole of a classical guitar. They are made from timber mosaic so each rosette actually contains thousands of individual pieces of coloured timber, which come together to form the pattern. Inlaying a rosette is one of the easiest ways to add tasteful embellishment to a guitar. In the past luthiers had to make mosaic rosettes from scratch in a lengthy process. These readymade rosettes are an easy way to get the same effect in a fraction of the time. A circular trench should be cut into the guitar top to accept the rosette. The best way to cut this is using a rotary tool with our Soundhole/Rosette jig and a Downcut router bit. Always wait to receive a rosette before routing the trench in order to get the size more accurate. Before installation seal the inside and outside edges with a light coat of glue or shellac to avoid black dye leaching into the endgrain of the top.
