This tambourine-like instrument called paranku is a core instrument for eisa dance in Okinawa. Eisa performers hold it with one hand and strike it with a bachi with the other hand while dancing energetically. It is very light and anyone from kindergarten kids to seniors enjoy performing eisa. Body is made of plywood and skins are genuine cowhide. It produces clear sounds without reverberation. Paranku is not so heavy and even children can play it easilly. A bachi comes with it.
